Investing in Gold in india -

Gold for ages has been a commodoty equivalent to money. People has been investing in gold by buying the pyhsically the gold from the local jeweler.

But with the advent of stock exchanges in india, investor can invest in gold through Gold ETF. Electronic traded funds are the mutual funds traded on the exchange same as any other stock of a company.

In order to trade on this instrument , an investor need to open an Demat and a trading account with brokerage firm.Though investing in normal mutual fund doesn't need a trading account but in case of gold you need it as it is traded on the exchange.
Documents required for this purpose are a proof of identity and a proof of address along with a pan card.

Once the account is opened you need to choose the gold ETF and can place an order online from the broking agents portal.Trading is done similar to share trading on exchange.
